Food photography: an attempt

Well, for a class assignment we had to take a stab at food photography. I must say that it's extremely frustrating and takes a lot longer than one might thing. In this particular shoot I had a great deal of trouble pulling detail back into the broccoli.

Dog lover

I'll have to dig up my actual caption info for this. Two weeks ago we had a "Dog lover" assignment for my class. I was after a very iconic biker and his dog which didn't happen. But while I was at the Harley Drags, I happened to meet this dude and his three-legged dog Sheelagh.

Again, it wasn't really what I was after...but I dig it.

Portable strip club

I've grown used to many college spring-break like happenings at the local Biker events, but this year there was an actual strip club brought to the scene. The girls were kind enough to climb up on some of the strip pole trailers you see pulled behind four wheelers and show the amateurs how you are supposed to pole dance.

Looks like the weather was warm enough at the Spring '07 Harley Drags for the girls to ride on the back of bikes naked. I spent 2 full days at the event. It's the 4th one I have been to now and after spending two years here in Bowling Green, Ky., it's amazing how a pocket of culture can be so different when you enter the gates of that place.

Last Fall I took off to ATL with a group of friends for the Braves vs. Cubs series. I nabbed this frame drunk as a skunk from the bar in the outfield.

I'm still working on my photoblog engine. Pixelpost is about to go into v1.6 final, and I've noticed a few bugs to take care of before I rework it to handle my old template (which I am updating).

This frame was grabbed last semester actually, early on in the school year when we were just hanging out in the kitchen crushin a few cold beers before a long semester of photojournalism school.

Well, it's good to be back. I've been slammed with school/work for the last few months.

This shot was taken last September during the local Harley Drags here in Bowling Green. It started off as a wet t-shirt contest and turned into more of a wet body contest.

Tim Banks, of Cycle Works Choppers in Owensboro, Ky., burns up some expensive rubber during the Robbie Gill memorial burnout competition at Beech Bend in Bowling Green, Ky., last Saturday. The MC I have been following for the last few months puts on a Bike Rodeo charity event at the Harley Drags. During the last drags a few months back I was denied access at the gate. Needless to say I knew I missed out on some great content for my story, so I decided to go back last weekend and see what I could come up with. I got lucky with the stadium lighting coming from the back, made for some great smoke shots. This one stuck out the most because I could see his face.

I just liked the light and had to snap a frame. It actually ended up in the paper for some odd reason. The Cadets were practicing their breathing techniques before they headed out to the range. Many had never fired a gun before.
